Curriculum Vitae of C. MATIAS RAMOS

Carlos Matias Ramos is a Civil Engineer and Principal Research Officer of the National Laboratory of Civil Engineer (LNEC) since 1988. He is President of this Laboratory since 2005.

He has developed his research activity in Hydraulic Structures and Fluid Mechanics, with special relevance to design criteria, physical models, hydrodynamic actions in hydraulic structures and equipments, dam safety, fluvial hydraulics and planning of water resources.

Author of one thesis entitled Macro Turbulence of Cross Flows in Energy Dissipation Structures (1978) and of a Research Program presented at the competition for Principal Research Officer at LNEC (1987). Is author or co-author of about 80 articles published in technical journals, congresses and symposiums, two books and two books chapters, two technical memories and 75 technical reports.

Taught and gave lectures, as invited professor, and conferences, in several Portuguese and foreign institutions. Is a Member of the ICOLD Committee on Hydraulics, of the Portuguese Academy of Engineering and of several national professional associations.

As a private consultant participated in over 80 projects related with River Hydraulics, Hydraulic Structures and Appurtenant Works of Large Dams.
